OUR PROGRAMS
DAY-CARE
This programme focuses on:
Providing
a safe environment for Aids orphans and other vulnerable children
between the ages of three and 18 years. The centre is providing daily care, education and at least one nutritious meal a
day, along with two snacks a day. Children
under six years receive nursery-school training, and older
children receive daily after-school
care. We hope in 2006 that they will also be assisted with homework and take part in
recreational programmes in the evenings.
Establishing,
developing and assisting day-care centres in the local communities.
We are encouraging and training members of the local churches to
start day-care centres in order to meet the pressing needs within
their societies.
In
addition to our current programs, we have extended our
activities to:
RUNNING
YOUTH CLUBS
Whilst doing these clubs we realised the huge need
to provide further recreation facilities and activities for the
school-going orphans and other vulnerable children in Katutura.
Through these regular clubs, we are able to develop
relationships that take care of all the needs that these children
have. Whether it is Emotional, Physical, Mental, Social or Spiritual
needs.
WEEKEND
AND DAY CAMPS
This area of the ministry is really
beginning to take off and we are seeking to develop it in many ways.
The children from Katutura go and stay on the YWAM property just
outside of the city. The campsite seeks to offer the children the
chance to relax, have fun and enjoy the countryside as well as
teaching and helping them by meeting the Emotional, Physical,
Mental, Social and Spiritual needs of the children. During 2006 we
are looking to develop the camps and be able to offer adventure
camps, team building, trust development, leadership and nature
camps. We are also planning to run these camps not only for our
Beautiful Gate children but other Schools, Churches, Youth groups
and Business groups from within Namibia.
COMMUNITY
WORK
This is our final aspect of our programmes and is also
multiplying.
There is such a need to get
out into the community and visit the sick, care for the
needy and help the poor.
